Who We Are

Your Online Footprint is a browser fingerprinting awareness tool built by MOTS Technologies, a web development company based in Nagpur, India. This tool is hosted at footprint.motstech.in.

Purpose of This Tool

This tool exists for educational and privacy awareness purposes only. It demonstrates what information your web browser exposes to any website you visit. We do not use this data to track, profile, or advertise to you.

Information We Collect

When you use this tool, your browser provides the following information (which any website you visit can also access):

• IP Address & Location — your public IP, looked up against a local GeoIP database for approximate city/country
• Screen & Display — resolution, pixel ratio, colour depth, orientation
• Hardware — CPU cores, approximate RAM, GPU model (via WebGL), battery level
• Browser & OS — browser name/version, operating system, user agent string, installed plugins
• Network — connection type, estimated speed, VPN detection
• Fingerprints — canvas, WebGL, and audio fingerprints (unique hashes derived from how your browser renders content)
• Fonts & Media — installed fonts, available media devices (camera/mic presence, not content)
• Browser Settings — timezone, language, Do Not Track preference, cookie/storage support
• Cross-browser ID — a hardware-based fingerprint hash that can persist across different browsers on the same device

Cookies

This tool does not use cookies. Identification is done entirely through browser fingerprinting — which is precisely the point we are demonstrating.

How We Use Your Data

• To display your fingerprint back to you in real time
• To show live visitor counts (online / total)
• To demonstrate cross-browser identification capabilities

We do not sell, share, or provide your data to any third party. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or tracking you outside of this tool.

Data Storage & Retention

Visitor data is stored in a local SQLite database on our server. Active sessions are tracked while you're on the tool and aggregated into anonymous visit history. We do not retain personally identifiable information beyond what is needed for the tool to function.

Third-Party Services

• Google Fonts — we load Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts from Google's servers, which means Google may receive your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Tailwind CSS CDN — loaded from a CDN for styling.
• MaxMind GeoLite2 — IP-to-location lookup is performed locally using a downloaded database. Your IP is not sent to MaxMind.

We do not use any advertising, tracking, or social media services.
